 Kata Depan (Preposition)

     Digunakan untuk menyatakan tempat atau kerberadaan sebuah benda. 

Perhatikan kata depan berikut ini:

1. in /in/= di, didalam.
2. at /e:t/= pada.
3. inside /insaid/= disebelah dalam, didalam.
4. outside /autsaid/= disebelah luar, diluar.
5. on /on/= diatas (menempel dengan benda lain).
6. above /ebav/= diatas (tidak menempel dengan benda lain).
7. over /ouver/= diatas (tidak menempel dengan benda lain, tapi melintas).
8. under /ander/= dibawah (menempel dengan benda lain).
9. below /bilou/= dibawah (tidak menempel dengan benda lain).
10. between /bitwi:n/= diantara (dua benda).
11. among /emang/= diantara (lebih dari dua benda).
12. in front of /in frant of/= didepan.
13. beside /bisaid/= disamping.
14. behind /bihaind/= dibelakang, dibalik.
15. across /ekros/= diseberang.
16. next to /nekst tu/= disebelah.
17. opposite to /apezit tu/= berhadapan dengan.
18. by /bai/= dekat.
19. near /nier/= dekat.
20. nearby /nierbai/= didekat.
21. close to /klous tu/= dekat pada.
22. far from /far from/= jauh dari.
23. around /eraund/= disekitar, disekeliling.
24. in the middle of /in dhe midel of/= ditengah.
25. on the top of /on dhe tap of/= dipuncak.
26. at the bank of /e:t dhe benk of/= dipinggir.
27. at the corner of /e:t dhe korner of/= dipojok.
28. at the bottom  of /e:t dhe batem of/= didasar.
29. dan lain-lain.

C. Contoh penggunaan Kata Depan dengan katakerja be (to be) (am, are, is): yang artinya berada.
Kalimat Positive (+):

1. I am in the library.
   Saya berada di perpustakaan.
2. You are in the library.
   Kamu berada di perpustakaan.
3. He is in the library.
   Dia(lk) berada di perpustakaan.
4. She is in the library.
   Dia(pr) berada di perpustakaan.
5. It is in the library.
   Benda berada di perpustakaan.
6. We are in the library.
   Kita berada di perpustakaan.
7. You are in the library.
   Kalian berada di perpustakaan.
8. They are in the library.
   Mereka berada di perpustakaan.
9. Tom is in the library.
   Tom berada di perpustakaan.
10. Cindy is in the library.
    Cindy berada di perpustakaan.

D. Kalimat Negative (-): tempatkan not setelah katakerja be (am, are, is).

1. I am not in the library.
   Saya tidak berada di perpustakaan. 
2. You are not in the library.
   Kamu tidak berada di perpustakaan.
3. He is not in the library.
   Dia(lk) tidak berada di perpustakaan.
4. She is not in the library.
   Dia(pr) tidak berada di perpustakaan.
5. It is not in the library.
   Benda tidak berada di perpustakaan.
6. We are not in the library.
   Kita tidak berada di perpustakaan.
7. You are not in the library.
   Kalian tidak berada di perpustakaan.
8. They are not in the library.
   Mereka tidak berada di perpustakaan.

E. Kalimat Interrogative (?): 

1. Am I in the library?
   Yes, you are. atau
   No, you are not.
   -Apakah saya berada di perpustakaan?
   Ya.
   Tidak.
2. Are you in the library?
   Yes, I am.
   No, I am not.
   -Apakah saya berada di perpustakaan?
   Ya.
   Tidak.
3. Is he in the library?
   Yes, he is.
   No, he is not.
   -Apakah dia(lk) berada di perpustakaan?
   Ya.
   Tidak.
4. Is she in the library?
   Yes, she is.
   No, she is not.
   -Apakah dia(pr) berada di perpustakaan?
   Ya.
   Tidak.

H.  Contoh kalimat dengan kata depan menggunakan (tenses 1) simple present tense.

1. I speak with him in front of the market.
   Saya bicara dengan dia(lk) didepan pasar.
2. You find me behind the library.
   Kamu menemukan saya dibelakang perpustakaan. 
3. He sits beside us.
   Dia(lk) berdiri disamping kita. 
4. She sleeps nearby the window.
   Dia(pr) tidur didekat jendela. 
5. We drink tea outside the house.
   Kita minum teh diluar rumah.
